Franklin Square

Named for Benjamin Franklin, Franklin Square bookends City Market at its western edge. Ellis Square sits at the Market's eastern edge.

Laid out in 1790, the year that Franklin died, it has also been known as Water Tank Square and Reservoir Square as it was the site of Savannah's water supply.

What was Benjamin Franklin's connection to Savannah?
He was Georgia's Colony agent in London.

Franklin Square Monument

The monument at the square's center honors Haitian-Americans who fought during The Siege Of Savannah in 1779 and in my opinion, is one of our most interesting war statues.

Vinnie Van Go Go's, Savannah Georgia

The good news is you won't go hungry or thirsty as Vinnie Van Go Go's (CASH ONLY restaurant offering up some of Savannah's best tasting pizza), Bedford's and The Rail Pub are all right there.

Universe Trading Company , one of the most unique and funky antique shops around is also on the square. It's located on Montgomery Street between Bryan and Congress.
