Greene Square

Greene Square feels almost Caribbean with its crooked, little pastel cottages and distinctive soulful flavor. Second African Baptist Church Sign - Greene Square
This was once the center of African-American life in Savannah and the Second African Baptist Church with its beautiful stained glass windows still anchors its western face.

Perhaps this is what most of The Historic District was like 50 or 60 years ago before it got all gussied up. It seems a bit dusty and lived in though, by no means, neglected.

The vibe is definitely more Gullah than British. Truly unique.
