Pinkie Master's Lounge
318 Drayton St.
You'll want to stop by Pinkie Master's Lounge when you're craving a cold beer or an industrial strength cocktail at the most authentic Savannah bar.
But, WARNING: This is a dive...a real dive...a "Leaving Las Vegas" kind of dive.
If you're a barfly looking for Applebee's, you'd better not land here.
The first thing that he did, though, was to sneak across Dayton Street over to Pinkie's, climb on top of the bar and toast the recently deceased Mr. Master, who had been a long time friend and booster.
This place is the real deal!
For decades politicos, professors, pimps and priests have bellied up to the well worn bar, gazed down upon by smiling 8x10's of Georgia's famous and notorious; photos now glazed over in a brown tobacco patina.
The last 15 years or so, regulars have been served by Loren who, if not exactly gregarious, always remembers what you like and keeps the drinks coming with stoic and competent style. He is a man in the know.
It's a smoky room for sure although, to Loren's dismay, a city wide smoking ban may come into effect very soon. The jukebox is the best in town and the vibe is definitely vintage Savannah.
With Six Pence Pub and McDonough's within stumbling distance, Pinkie's is a must for your pub crawl.
