Savannah Jazz Festival

Free jazz!

Since 1983, The Savannah Jazz Festival have been sponsored by The City Of Savannah and The Coastal Jazz Association.

Savannah Jazz Festival in Forsyth Park

It takes place the last full week of September each year and is absolutely free of charge to everyone.

Over the years, headliners have included such heroes as Lionel Hampton, Art Blakey, Maynard Ferguson, McCoy Tyner, Clark Terry and, most recently, Spiro Gyra.

Savannah Jazz Festival in Forsyth Park

We packed a blanket and some snacks, this year, and parked ourselves on the green at Forsyth Park to enjoy some fabulous jazz entertainment.

Savannah Jazz Festival Crowd

The new band shell in the park is gorgeous and the sound is clean, clear and, oh, so jazzy!

There are two playgrounds beside the stage so bring the kids.

Also, the food vendors are all top notch and local.

However, those in the know tend to bring picnic baskets of gourmet food and bottles of tasty wine.

It's swingin'!!!
