The Sorrel-Weed House was one of Georgia's first two homes to be deemed a Georgia State Landmark.
The house offers an informative historic tour by day and a be-sure-to-make-reservations ghost tour by night, (912) 236-8888.
Upstairs residents hear parties going on downstairs when no one is there...laughing, talking, music. They also hear sounds of battle complete with fifes, drums and bugles.
Both Robert E. Lee and William T. Sherman have been guests in the house.
In the basement, it seems that voodoo may have been practiced for a number of years and visitors can suddenly feel sick while down there. The front porch sometimes features the apparition of Mrs. Sorrel, who jumped to her death there in 1861.
