Whitefield Square

Laid out in 1851, Whitefield Square is distinctly Victorian with gingerbread houses and an ornate gazebo at its center.

The lovely, First Congregational Church adorns its western side.

The square was named for Rev. George Whitehead who founded The Bethesda School for Boys, an institution still going strong on Savannah's south side.

To continue the tour, walk south on Habersham until you get to Gaston Street (You'll see Johnny Ganem's liquor store). Take a right turn there and walk until you get to Abercorn. Take a right there and go northward until you arrive at Calhoun Square.
